dinner date with the little's...4.23

we had our sunday school teachers over for dinner on thursday night the 23rd. i know. we look like big suck ups :) but, allison and jason and their three precious kiddos are good friends. but i just think its funnier to say i had our s.s. teachers come to dinner!!! we had a great time!

miss allison is sarah's choir teacher. sarah was SO excited miss allison was coming over! she asked me to fix her hair "fancy" and she ran upstairs to get her bow on her own. and she told me where to place it. and she asked for makeup. of course, since she wasn't leaving the house, it didn't really matter. so i obliged. she was on cloud nine!!!

we were having shish kabobs for dinner, so i made a plate of veggies and such for the kids to make their own bobs...surprisingly, no one lost an eye from the skewers! of course, the adults were on high alert (especially watchful over the three year olds...drew and maddox!)!!!

when it was dinner time, we told all the kids to find a place to sit to eat outside. there are approximately 12 spots for kids to comfortably dine in our backyard...two picnic tables and a small round table. all 5 kids HAD HAD HAD to eat around the tiny round table. of course...

the kids played...and played...and played. i couldn't believe it. they were happy and played well til 10:30pm!?! what?!? we weren't gonna mess with a good thing, so we just visited lots.

it was a really fun night with new(ish) friends.

p.s. note sarah's sun glasses on her head...so "fancy"!!!

mops playdate...4.22

we had such a great turn out on our mops easter egg hunt that we decided to have another wednesday afternoon playdate! this time we met at a different park with bubbles and side walk chalk...the kids were ALL so exhausted from preschool wheel week, but still had a blast playing together! i think this time we had 13 or 14 moms and at least 30 kiddos! we pretty much took over the playground!!!
not surprisingly, we did my ole standby of grabbing some fast food on the way home and getting straight in the shower and then into the beds pronto!
good times!!!

sarah's wheel day...4.22

sarah marching out with her class...remember how it was freezing for drew's wheel day?
it was H.O.T. the very next day for sarah's wheel day. memphis. nice.
sarah and her favorite buddy griffin
thinking REALLY hard about her ice cream choice...that's my girl :)
today jacob was able to enjoy the bright sun and heat of wheel day...wonder what he thinks of the crazy weather?!? blankets and winter clothes one day and sunhats and summer clothes the next!
one of my absolutely FAVORITE new pictures...
(mimi and poppy were troopers and came to TWO separate days of wheel day this year. last year both kids had it on the same day...)

you'll probably have to enlarge the above pic to truly experience and appreciate my comment...sarah did. not. stop. talking. the whole time she was riding. her mouth is wide open in this pic talking to her friend anna leigh. we laughed every time she rode by. always, always talking. wonder where she gets THAT?!?
again with the wide. open. mouth...
don't they look like they are cooking up something? anna leigh, ava, and sarah...

drew's wheel day...4.21

doesn't jacob look thrilled to be at wheel day?!?
drew walking out with his sweet little class...
drew ran as FAST as he could towards poppy when he spotted him...too sweet!
mimi trying to protect baby jacob from the freezing C.O.L.D...it was easily 50 degrees that day with brisk winds. most kiddos were dressed for the weather we HAD been having...upper 70s, sun, and light breeze. all the little ones (and parents/grandparents too!) were chilled to the bone!
partners in crime...drew and ava.

another attempt to keep jacob warm...
daddy helping drew adjust his helmet...
there was a slight miscommunication from the preschool regarding helmet requirements.
so, drew did not have a helmet prior to wheel day.
nor did he have a helmet with him on the morning of wheel day when daddy took him to school.
nor did he have a helmet at 9:15am when daddy called mommy to inform her that her son would not be allowed to ride his 6-inches-off-the-ground tricycle without a helmet.
so, mommy brought drew sarah's old helmet. and it was dora.
poor little brother. of course...he loved it :)
(and he WILL have his own boy helmet before wheel day next year!!!)

drew was beyond excited to have mimi, poppy, daddy, mommy, and little brother at his wheel day! he rode the whole 45 minutes...he was a tuckered out little boy that afternoon!!!

easter sunday...4.12

i think jacob's basket makes a nice addition this easter...as sarah would say, "its a patt-er-nern" (don't really know why she pronounces 99.9% of the english language correctly, but can't say pattern)!
sweet sarah smiles nicely for her close-up...
best picture of the big kids together...you should see all the pics that didn't make it...
this would be WHY we have so few good pics...drew's infamous "pouty" stance. he's quite the professional pouter...he has perfected the slumped shoulders, downtrodden look in sitting AND standing...
another sweet sarah pic...this one shows the gash between her eyes. we looked like ragamuffins this easter...drew with a black eye and sarah with this injury...
again, the best photo we got of all 5 of us...we had 3 different people snapping pics and 2 more trying to get the kiddos to smile. whew! its exhausting trying to get a good one!!!
the big kids tearing into their loot. somehow we've lucked out and the kids don't think the easter bunny brings baskets overnight. its just too crazy to try to get ready for church on sundays period without throwing in baskets as well! after we got home from church and had our photo op, the kids got their baskets...
we had a wonderful easter with many family members and friends. we had 16 at our house for lunch! it was a great way to celebrate our Risen Savior!!!
