a night at the delta fair...8.31

learning from our mistakes last year, we DID NOT go to the delta fair the night before the first day of preschool...we went on the sunday night before instead :) of course, it was a dirty, hot, sweaty, sticky night, but we all had so much fun! actually, it was a TINY bit breezy that night, making it fairly tolerable...for the end of august in memphis. everyone took advantage of me being pregnant by eating all the good fair food with me to make me feel better...ha! the kids rode tons of rides and enjoyed a few yummy treats as well! this year we let everyone walk. no strollers. and they did GREAT!!! we got home, hosed everyone down, and hit the sack! a great way to end a sunday!!! oh yeah...i'm sure most of you recognize them by now, but we went with the york family to the fair!!!

poppy's birthday party...8.31

sarah is seriously into her poppy bill! they have always had such a special bond!!!

this is sarah's new "smile" when we ask her to smile for the camera. i think it makes her look like a snaggle-tooth!!!

one last hurrah at the sprinkler park...8.30

on the last weekend that the sprinkler park was open, daddy took the kids on saturday morning and met one of his co-workers, joe and his two boys for a playdate. we are really sad that the sprinklers are turned off from labor day til memorial day...you would think as hot as it can be before memorial day and after labor day in memphis that the sprinklers would run for more months...oh well. we enjoy it each year when we can! and for the past 2 summers the sprinkler park has been just down the street...so very nice!!! it was also extremely nice for the daddies to have the kiddos and the mommies to have a quiet house on a saturday morning :) even better, the kids came home from playing exhausted and took good afternoon naps!!! bonus!

our family friends/kelly's dentist/tim's computer client/poppy's co-worker--THE BARTON'S--live on some land in eads, tn. dr. b had been begging tim to bring our kids out to see the farm, animals, four wheelers, etc. one late afternoon after naps, tim had to run out to their house to fix something and he took our grungy kids with him. THEY HAD A BLAST!!! they are both still talking about riding the four wheeler with dr. b and her "puppies"...drew alternately called the HUGE dogs puppies or horsies! he loved them either way! and sarah made herself at home on the couch trying to entertain mr. vern! they are both asking when they can go see dr. b again!!!

mary mcrae's 1st birthday party...aka the day of sugar!!!...8.24

on sunday afternoon, all 4 of us went to mary mcrae's first birthday party. it was a "sugar and spice" party...and boy was there A LOT of sugar! miss amy is normally a very healthy person...so we had to tease her endlessly about the massive amounts of sugary goodness at her daughter's 1st birthday party!!! the party began with the cotton candy...lots and lots of cotton candy stickiness!!!

after cotton candy and the birthday cupcakes, we decorated sugar cookies with icing and sprinkles! oh my!!!
the kids also enjoyed a free for all of chips and other candies...
yes, my son went straight to the source, and just TURNED the sprinkles upside down in his mouth...yummy!

we were ALL on sugar overload after the party! little jacob was turning major flips in my belly! thankfully, we all came off the sugar highs, took baths, and hit the beds! it was a really fun party...but i doubt we EVER eat that much sugar at miss amy's house EVER again!!!
