36 weeks...current events...

well, i went to the OB today for my weekly appointment and i thought i was getting far enough along to actually report what was happening now...

it started out like deja vu all over again...i was on the table and asked if she could tell if baby was head down or breech. (remember how drew was breech until the VERY LAST MINUTE? i was already prepped for surgery with an IV and everything...the ultrasound tech comes in to check ONE MORE TIME if he had flipped to head down, plops the wand on my belly and says oh-so-casually that drew is head down!?! dr. austin sends me home and i go into labor with drew on my own 3 days later?) so, she palpates my tummy for a while and says, "oh, i'm pretty sure he's breech. let's schedule a c-section for 39 weeks. how is oct 24th? i'm at baptist (hospital) that day. oh, do you want your tubes tied while i'm in there doing the section?" OH MY GOODNESS! information overload! all of those questions were worse than on your initial OB visit when they ask you if you are planning to breastfeed or have a male child circumcised and you are still waiting for the other nurse to confirm your pregnancy test!!! so, after discussing all of this for a few minutes, she does say that she wants me to have another ultrasound today to check his position. (this kid has had TONS of ultrasounds!)

so, we make the walk to the ultrasound room...completely SAD that baby jacob is probably breech! the ultrasonographer knows us now, and knows our history, and is laughing that we are back with baby #3 being breech too! anyway, long story even longer, she plops the wand on my belly and immediately says, "he's head down!" WE WERE ECSTATIC!!! now, we've still got 4 more weeks, and since he isn't engaged yet, he could still move, but she spent a long time checking him out...and i have a "low-normal" amount of amniotic fluid (less likely to allow him to flip), and he is already estimated at 7lbs 4oz. (85%tile), so we are hoping he will stay put!

after 5 weeks of ultrasounds with drew showing that he was STILL breech, i was so thankful that today's ultrasound didn't start us down that same path!!! other than the whole breech debacle, everything else was completely normal. we just keep going back weekly from here on out...i'll keep you guys in the know!!!

So Kelly, is it still as nerve wracking (sp?) going in for your 3rd baby as it was your 1st? I am so wanting #2 these days!!!

kristi, i think its still nerve wracking in a different way. i am a little more distracted because of the big kids, so i don't have as much time to worry about the baby coming! but, i am also MORE worried about something going wrong, or me having to have a c-section because if i do, i still have 2 big kids at home to care for too! so, i guess its all about the same :) i didn't know you were wanting another one! i'll be praying for you!
